The mission of Rachel’s Wild Gift project – Campus InPower – is to transfer the financial and organizing tools of Campus InPower to dozens of universities across the country, catalyzing higher education’s role in the clean energy economy and empowering student organizers to play an unprecedented role in directing campus sustainability. Rachel trained students from over 250 universities nationwide on the basics of green campus funding mechanisms, and personally mentored 10 student teams that actively ran funding campaigns at their universities. All of her teams were successful, and cumulatively, their efforts will make $15.5 million available for sustainability projects on their respective campuses over the next ten years. Rachel’s palette of online viral tools will ensure that students and administrators for years to come will have all the information they need to launch successful multi-million dollar ‘green fund campaigns’ on their campuses. Rachel has recently been hired as the Program Manager at BC3, the Business Council on Climate Change of the San Francisco Bay Area. She will work with over 100 bay area companies, including Sun Microsystems and The Gap, on designing and implementing aggressive climate action plans that cover everything from their supply chain, to employee behavior, to public advocacy.
